SJM's Mid-Autumn Festival Program Touches Lives in Macau

SJM Resorts Ltd., the prominent casino operator in Macau, recently executed a comprehensive outreach initiative as part of their Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations. This program was designed to touch the lives of approximately 2,600 individuals throughout the month of September. The outreach was executed through various visits to residents and institutions across the city, demonstrating SJM’s commitment to community support and welfare.

The company's dedicated volunteers embarked on a mission to deliver festive cheer and goodwill, visiting around 850 households from September 1 to September 24. During these visits, they provided gift packs and extended warm holiday greetings to the residences they visited. This initiative was described in a formal company release, highlighting the extensive reach and impactful nature of the program.

SJM Resorts organized “nearly 100 person-trips” that specifically targeted social welfare institutions and vulnerable individuals across Macau. Beneficiaries of this initiative included elderly individuals living independently, single-parent households, low-income families, children, young adults, and people with special needs. The outreach further extended to groups such as the Macau Down Syndrome Association, Macau Special Olympics, and the Macau Association of the Hearing Impaired.

Collaborations and Community Engagement

SJM Resorts is a principal operator of the Macau operations unit for SJM Holdings Ltd, a Hong Kong-listed casino firm. The company’s social responsibility program demonstrates their ongoing commitment to nurturing the welfare of the local community through thoughtful interactions and events. Part of this comprehensive program was a collaboration with the Macau Holy House of Mercy, a longstanding institution known for its charitable activities.

Volunteers from SJM engaged with residents of Our Lady of Mercy Home through creative activities such as Mid-Autumn themed handicraft projects and enjoyable games. These events were designed not only to celebrate the festival but to promote rewarding interactions among various community members.

In tandem, SJM’s team members joined forces with young Caritas Macau volunteers to conduct visits at places like Asilo de Betânia. They organized musical performances and games for the elderly residents, fostering an atmosphere of joy and mutual respect between different generations. Such activities not only enrich the lives of participants but also strengthen inter-generational bonds.

Encouraging Cross-Generational Connection

The core aim of SJM Resorts in hosting these Mid-Autumn events was to inspire constructive interactions between younger and older generations. The company emphasized that this support was intended to uplift those in need during the celebratory period, ensuring that no one was left alone or unsupported during this festive season.

The activities put forth by SJM were reportedly successful in fostering a sense of community appreciation and mutual respect, encouraging empathy and understanding across different age groups. Through these efforts, SJM not only provided entertainment and joy but built a bridge of compassion and care which resonates with the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

By facilitating these outreach initiatives, SJM Resorts has solidified its role as a responsible corporate citizen, keenly aware of its influence and duty to the community. Such activities highlight the power of corporate involvement in improving well-being and creating avenues for meaningful social engagement.
