Christopher Ip Shih Ming has officially resigned from his position as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the renowned Macau casino operator, SJM Holdings Ltd. The announcement was made effective from Monday, June 29. Mr. Ip’s departure comes after a tenure that began in December 2023, when he took over the financial helm at SJM Holdings, subsequent to serving as CFO at Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels Ltd.
According to the company's filing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Mr. Ip has chosen to "pursue other personal interests". Furthermore, he has assured that there is no dissonance with the board that requires the shareholders' attention nor any issues necessitating disclosure to the bourse.
In a decisive move to ensure seamless continuity, SJM Holdings has appointed Sean Czoon Tan as the new CFO, taking over the mantle right after Mr. Ip’s resignation. Sean Tan, who is 47 years old, has an impressive history of over 25 years in strategic business and financial management.
His illustrious career includes serving as CFO at NagaCorp Ltd, the operator of Cambodia’s NagaWorld casino resort. He held this position from March 2018, following his initial association with NagaCorp in July 2013. Mr. Tan's tenure at NagaCorp was marked by his ascension to the role of chief corporate development officer in July 2025, recognized as a significant promotion.
Sean Tan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to SJM Holdings, backed by his credentials as both a chartered accountant and a chartered financial analyst. His expertise is expected to be instrumental in navigating the financial strategies of SJM Holdings, a major player in Macau's competitive casino landscape.
The strategic acumen he demonstrated during his tenure at NagaCorp will be vital as SJM Holdings continues to fortify its financial stature and adapt to evolving industry dynamics. His entry into the company symbolizes not just a change in personnel but a reinforcement of SJM’s commitment to robust financial stewardship and corporate development.
