SJM Resorts Augments Parental Benefits for Staff

SJM Resorts Ltd, the casino arm of SJM Holdings Ltd, a company listed in Hong Kong, has announced significant improvements to the parental benefits offered to its eligible employees. Starting from March 1, these enhancements aim to support the Macau government’s policies encouraging childbirth, while fostering a family-friendly work environment.

The key changes involve extending paid maternity leave to 90 days and increasing paid paternity leave from five to seven days. This initiative is part of SJM Resorts' broader commitment to employee welfare and providing robust family support, particularly during crucial life events.

Under the updated policy, female employees who have served the company for at least one year will now be eligible for 90 days of paid maternity leave. Likewise, male employees will benefit from an increased paid paternity leave of seven days. The company believes this move aligns with their core values, emphasizing employee well-being and family happiness as critical priorities.

SJM Resorts operates several casinos on the Macau peninsula, including the Grand Lisboa complex and the Grand Lisboa Palace resort in Cotai. This policy change reflects the company's strategic direction to attract and retain top talent by offering comprehensive family support.

Commitment to Employee Support

Daisy Ho, the managing director of SJM Resorts, highlighted the importance of providing robust support to employees, stating, 'The well-being and family happiness of our employees have always been at the core of our values, and a robust family support framework is key to attracting and retaining the best talent.'

This statement underscores the company’s dedication to its workforce, further emphasized by their status as the last of Macau’s six casino concessionaires to announce such benefits publicly.

The announcement follows the Macau government's recent public consultation on revising the Labour Relations Law to potentially increase maternity leave to 90 days, indicating a broader trend towards improved parental benefits across the region.
