Macau experienced an astonishing influx of tourists during this year's October Golden Week, reaching a total of 1.14 million visitors. This remarkable figure indicates a daily average of more than 163,320 arrivals, surpassing last year’s daily average of 143,090 visitors and setting a new benchmark during the festive period.
October Golden Week is not only a significant holiday break for Chinese mainland consumers but also creates a peak trading period for the region's casinos, bolstering tourism-driven revenue.
Mainland China continues to serve as the primary source of tourists to Macau. During the first six days of the holiday, the Macao Government Tourism Office recorded 905,944 visitors from the mainland. Additionally, 101,947 travelers hailed from Hong Kong between October 1 and 6.
Despite the holiday season being one day shorter than 2025, when Macau also saw 1.14 million visitors, this year managed to maintain vigorous visitor numbers, underscoring Macau's enduring appeal.
Most visitors during the holiday arrived through major checkpoints. The Border Gate checkpoint recorded 533,966 entries, followed by the Hengqin checkpoint with 245,304 arrivals, and 157,873 visitors used the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
These statistics highlight the effectiveness and accessibility of Macau’s infrastructure in managing substantial tourist volumes. Coupled with the timing of the Mid-Autumn Festival extending into October Golden Week, Macau welcomed a cumulative total of 1.87 million visitors from September 25 to October 7, indicative of a strong travel surge.
