MGM China Holdings Ltd is steadfast in its
mission to advance scientific education within Macau by hosting the "MGM Youth Popular Science Series: Macau Space Dream Project." This year marked the second annual event, which took place in May, drawing participants including students, educators, and technology specialists. Collaborating with the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau (MAPST) and the Chinese Society of Astronautics (CSA), this
initiative emphasizes aerospace education, fostering curiosity and innovation amongst the youth in Macau.
Engaging Programs and Activities
The Macau Space Dream Project features a variety of hands-on activities tailored to different educational levels, all designed to engage students with space science and technology. It is structured around two primary programs over six months. Firstly, the 'Macau Youth Creative Design Competition of Space Experiment' challenges high school students to think creatively about space-related experiments. Secondly, primary students in grades 5 and 6 can partake in the 'Call from Deep Space' camp, which combines practical workshops, expert-led lessons, and enlightening trips to leading research facilities in mainland China. These educational experiences aim to
equip the participants with a deeper understanding and appreciation for space science.
Commitment to Educational Excellence
Kenneth Feng, MGM China's president and executive director, expressed the company's dedication to cultivating innovative thinking in young people. This commitment is mirrored through enriching the program with insights from national aerospace professionals and exclusive tours of research facilities reserved for standout students. The project gained national recognition early on, being acknowledged by the China Association for Science and Technology as an "Outstanding Event of the 2024 National Science Popularisation Day." Beyond this specific project, MGM China continues to contribute to the broader educational landscape with programs like the "2025 National Youth Science Camp" and its upcoming sub-camp in Macau. These initiatives underscore the company's ongoing efforts to support and enhance scientific education in the region.
