MGM China Plans Salary Increase for Eligible Staff by March 2025

Macau's renowned casino firm, MGM China Holdings Ltd, declared on Tuesday a salary enhancement for its qualifying workforce, effective March 24, 2025. Announced via a press release, this decision underscores the company's acknowledgment of the relentless efforts and valuable contributions made by its employees. The announcement emphasized that all workers eligible for the raise will benefit from a "2.5-percent increment," with the adjustment catering to "99 percent of team members" who will thus be favorably impacted.

MGM China has also elaborated that team members earning a monthly salary, on or below MOP16,000 (approximately US$2,000), will experience a "standard salary adjustment of MOP600." This alteration corresponds to an increase ranging between 2.5 percent to 5.5 percent, further showing the company's dedication to welfare and fair compensation for its workforce.

Appreciation from Leadership

Pansy Ho Chiu King, the chairperson and executive director of MGM China, conveyed warm gratitude toward the employees, singling out their devotion and teamwork. She noted, "We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our team members for their wholehearted dedication in moving forward hand-in-hand with the company." Her statement highlights the strategic importance of their shared journey and underscores a harmonious coordination between the leadership and the broader team. MGM China, which manages MGM Macau on the peninsula and MGM Cotai located in the Cotai district, is currently the fifth of the six major casino operators in Macau to initiate salary increments this year, reflecting a growing trend among operators towards employee-centric policies.

Company's Generous Year-End Bonus

Previously, in late December, the firm made headlines with its announcement of a "discretionary bonus," equating to a month's wages for eligible employees, in recognition of their dedication throughout the challenging year of 2024. This generous bonus scheme benefited approximately "95 percent of the team members," showcasing MGM China's commitment to sharing its success and acknowledging the invaluable contribution of its staff. This increment aligns with similar compensation upgrades and bonus declarations by the other five Macau-based casino operators, all of whom have recognized and rewarded their employees for work done during 2024. Such strategies not only aim at appreciating the hard work but also at improving satisfaction and retention of the vital human resources driving the gaming and hospitality sector.
