MGM China Continues Long-standing Support for Macau’s SCMM

MGM China Holdings Ltd, one of the key players in Macau's casino industry, has once again demonstrated its dedication to social responsibility by making a significant contribution to the Macau Holy House of Mercy's Welfare Shop (SCMM). Recently, the company announced a donation of MOP300,000 (approximately US$37,189) as part of its continuous support for the association's commendable food hamper distribution program.

Notably, this marks the 14th consecutive year MGM China has supported SCMM, with a total contribution of MOP4.1 million over the years. This sustained partnership highlights MGM China’s ongoing commitment to aiding families in need within the community.

Ensuring Basic Needs for Vulnerable Families

Operating since 2013, SCMM’s Welfare Shop plays a crucial role in providing essential goods to families undergoing financial hardships in Macau. The welfare shop is dedicated to distributing monthly food supplies and other necessities to numerous households within the city, particularly targeting those facing economic challenges.

By doing this, the Welfare Shop aims to alleviate some of the burdens faced by families living in disadvantaged neighborhoods. MGM China's contribution directly enhances the shop's ability to meet its goals, ensuring that essential support reaches those who require it the most.

Volunteer Initiatives and Community Engagement

In line with its tradition of active community involvement, MGM China had its chief executive and executive director, Kenneth Feng, make an in-person appearance at the SCMM’s facility. During his visit, he presented the donation cheque to Antônio José de Freitas, who is the president of SCMM’s board of trustees.

Additionally, members of MGM China's management and the Golden Lion Volunteer Team, alongside their children, participated actively in packing and distributing the food hampers. These activities were carried out in coordination with SCMM and other local organizations like the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, and the Macau Association of Parents of the Mentally Handicapped.

By involving families in these charitable acts, the initiative also promoted valuable parent-child engagement, emphasizing the importance of community care and solidarity.
