Melco Champions Kindness Initiatives During New Year Season

Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd, a prominent casino concessionaire, recently engaged in a series of community service activities in Macau, spearheaded by the firm’s chairman and CEO, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, together with employee volunteers. This initiative coincides with the Chinese New Year celebrations and aims to extend warmth and support to the local community through meaningful gestures.

In a concerted effort, Melco's team paid visits to several non-profit organizations across Macau, making a notable impact on various segments of the society. The company's presence at these organizations was seen as a significant boost to the morale of the beneficiaries, as Melco's team brought festive cheer and invaluable support to families in need, particularly those with school-going children associated with the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM).

This initiative underscores Melco Resorts' commitment to its "Simple Acts of Kindness" program designed to foster goodwill and positive change among its immediate surroundings.

Community Partnerships and Activities

During the visits, Melco's volunteers expressed their goodwill by distributing gifts and donations. The CEO, Mr. Ho, emphasized the importance of volunteering as a powerful tool for inciting change within communities, highlighting his pride and gratitude towards the volunteers who contribute tirelessly to the success of the 'Simple Acts of Kindness' program.

Furthermore, Mr. Ho acknowledged the support from community partners, which has been instrumental in enabling Melco to carry out these heart-warming gestures. One significant stop was the Women's General Association of Macau – Northern Family Service Centre, where Melco reached out to approximately 100 beneficiaries comprising women and children.

This partnership exemplifies the company's dedication to extending support to vulnerable groups in society, thereby reinforcing social bonds during a culturally significant period.

Celebrations and Diverse Engagements

In line with the Chinese New Year celebrations, Melco Resorts orchestrated close to 30 events across January to March. This ambitious schedule featured visits to the Macau Federation of Trade Unions’ Ka Ao Nursery Home, where Melco volunteers met and interacted with the elderly residents.

Another intriguing engagement involved partnering with UGAMM’s I Chon Centre. Here, Melco collaborated with the elderly volunteers to craft and distribute hand-made calligraphy banners—a gesture signifying cultural preservation and community participation. Additionally, Melco's volunteers rendered house cleaning assistance to the elderly residents supported by UGAMM – Cheng I Elderly Integrated Service Centre at Cheng Chong Building.

Through such activities, Melco indeed personifies corporate responsibility, blending cultural celebrations with practical support and care, all the while remaining steadfast in its mission to uplift and unite the community in the spirit of the New Year.
