As of Monday, multiple luxury hotels within Macau's casino resorts have already shown no availability for any of the five nights spanning the mainland China’s Labour Day holiday season. This information comes from direct checks of the hotels’ reservation systems conducted by GGRAsia. The Labour Day holidays in mainland China for this year are scheduled from May 1, a Thursday, to May 5, a Monday, inclusive. May 1, also known as 'May Day,' marks the beginning of this holiday period.
By Monday, April 21, a significant number, specifically 15 out of the 33 local luxury hotel towers, were indicating that all five nights of the holiday break were sold out. GGRAsia's search targeted standard rooms or suites that could accommodate two adults, either with a king bed or two beds. Among the hotels showing no availability for any night of the holiday were Grand Lisboa, the flagship property of SJM Holdings Ltd on the Macau peninsula, and the hotel at MGM Macau, also on the peninsula, along with MGM Cotai’s M Tower, Emerald Tower, and Skylofts, all managed by MGM China Holdings Ltd.
Additionally, The Grand Suites at Four Seasons in Cotai, promoted by Sands China Ltd, was also fully booked. Other fully booked hotels included Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace, operated by Wynn Macau Ltd, and a series of hotels at the Cotai casino resort complex Galaxy Macau, run by Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd: Galaxy Hotel, Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, JW Marriott Hotel Macau, The Ritz-Carlton, Macau, Raffles at Galaxy Macau, and Andaz Macau.
Hotels that were fully booked for four out of the five festive nights included the suite-only Star Tower in Studio City, a Cotai property operated by Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd. Similarly, The Venetian Macao and The Four Seasons Hotel Macao, the next-door Parisian Macao and Paiza Lofts, and The Conrad Macao at The Londoner Macao, all Cotai hotel brands promoted by Sands China, were also showing no availability for four out of the five nights. For the rooms or suites that were still available in Cotai during the Labour Day holiday season, nightly rates varied significantly, starting from approximately MOP1,000 (US$125) at the lower end, up to over MOP20,000, not including taxes and additional service charges, as observed during GGRAsia's checks on Monday.
The pricing for luxury hotel rooms peaked on the second and third days of the five-day holiday, with the minimum price nearing MOP4,000 per night. Sands China’s Londoner Macao resort complex featured most of the Cotai suites at the higher end of the daily rate spectrum, ranging from above MOP10,000 to as high as MOP22,898 per night for the first three days of the Labour Day break. These higher-end suites are located at The Londoner Hotel, Londoner Court, and Londoner Grand, the latter of which is a new accommodation option that has replaced the former Sheraton Macao hotel.
