In the third quarter of 2026, Macau’s casino market witnessed fluctuations in its gross gaming revenue (GGR) across various segments. The mass-market segment, which includes slot machine play, generated GGR amounting to nearly MOP43.31 billion (US$5.36 billion), reflecting a decline of 5.2% compared to the same period the previous year.
This shift highlights a changing market dynamic, with mass play constituting 71.9% of the total casino GGR for the quarter, a slight decrease from 73.0% in the third quarter of 2025. This data was released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, demonstrating the ongoing evolution within Macau's gaming landscape.
The VIP table baccarat segment, a key contributor to Macau's gaming market, reported revenue of just below MOP16.91 billion for the three months ending September 30, marking a modest year-on-year increase of 0.1%. During this period, VIP baccarat accounted for 28.1% of all third-quarter GGR from games of fortune, a slight increase from 27.0% in the equivalent quarter of 2025.
Overall, the total GGR for the quarter reached just under MOP60.22 billion, showing a decline of 3.8% year-on-year. Mass-market baccarat alone accounted for MOP33.61 billion or 55.8% of the aggregate GGR during this period, showcasing a shift from the previous year’s 58.3%.
Despite the declines in some areas of the market, the slot machine category experienced a significant upswing. The third-quarter GGR for slot machines was just over MOP4.09 billion, representing a substantial increase of 18.8% from the prior-year period.
This brought the slot machines’ market share to 6.8% of total revenue for the quarter, up from 5.5% the previous year. However, the live multi-game electronic product category faced challenges, with its GGR falling by 8.0% year-on-year, down to slightly over MOP1.14 billion.
These figures indicate a dynamic shift within the casino market, highlighting the differential growth and contraction across various gaming segments.
