Casino operator Wynn Macau Ltd has achieved a remarkable milestone by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by more than one third in the past five years. This information was detailed in the company's "2024 Sustainability Report," as revealed in a press release on Tuesday. By implementing decarbonisation strategies into its daily operations, Wynn Macau Lt managed to decrease its greenhouse emissions by 36.7 percent compared to its 2019 levels. The firm underscored its dedication to supporting the Macau government's long-term decarbonisation objectives by exploring new sustainable practices and promoting sustainable tourism.
Wynn Macau Ltd has taken proactive steps in integrating sustainable practices within their operations. One notable example is its partnership with a local small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) for recycling used playing cards, making it a pioneer among integrated resorts in Macau. This initiative has led to nearly 100 percent of the playing cards being recycled in 2024. Additionally, the company's diversion of non-hazardous waste significantly increased by 136.9 percent over the last year. It also reported a 41.6 percent increase in procuring sustainable seafood compared to the previous year. According to the sustainability report, a substantial 85.5 percent of Wynn Macau Ltd's total procurement in 2024 was sourced from local suppliers in Macau. With the launch of SME support programs in 2023, Wynn has been instrumental in helping these enterprises optimize productivity, raise professional standards, and expand their businesses, contributing to the diversification and growth of Macau's economy.
The report outlines Wynn Macau Ltd’s efforts towards community service and employee development through its "Wynn Care Foundation." In 2024, employees actively engaged in community service, collectively contributing 10,278 hours of volunteer work across various activities with 2,845 volunteers participating. Furthermore, the company has enhanced professional development for its employees, offering diverse training opportunities. Wynn team members completed nearly 400,000 training hours over 4,700 courses through both in-person and online formats in 2024.
