Casino operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd is contemplating integrating "premium brands and concepts" into its existing resort offerings. This move aligns with the group’s strategy to enhance its integrated resorts with complementary services. In an official response to GGRAsia's inquiry, Melco Resorts confirmed the consideration of such enhancements, specifically addressing the possibility of introducing a brand known as "dragon-i macau.”
In July, MCO (IP) Holdings Ltd, connected to Melco Resorts, applied in Macau for rights to "dragon-i macau," a brand widely recognized in Hong Kong for its nightclub experience. The trademark application covers a range of services including catering and nightlife, hinting at a potentially new entertainment offering within Melco’s resorts in the region.
Melco Resorts currently manages major properties like City of Dreams, Studio City, and Altira Macau, all of which boast exceptional amenities including existing nightclubs such as Para Club and Club MOP.
The 'dragon-i' brand finds its roots with Hong Kong businessman Gilbert Yeung, who has been pivotal in developing this iconic nightlife name. Black Spade Capital Ltd, an investment office associated with Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, the chairman and CEO of Melco Resorts, announced a partnership with Yeung in February 2024. This joint venture aims to create a "global lifestyle, entertainment and hospitality group," poised to deliver luxurious entertainment experiences globally, starting in Macau.
This collaboration underscores Melco Resorts' commitment to expanding and refining its lifestyle and entertainment offerings.
