Melco Resorts Enriches Macau's Cultural Scene with Youth Event

Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd, a leading casino operator, recently orchestrated a dynamic event aimed at fostering cultural growth in Macau. Central to this initiative was the debut of the renowned young violinist, Leia Zhu. Known for her prodigious talent, the Anglo-Chinese violinist graced the stage of the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium on June 13, performing alongside the esteemed Macao Orchestra.

This exceptional event was part of Melco Resorts’ ongoing commitment to enhance cultural experiences within the region, underscoring its role as a major promoter of the arts and music in Macau.

Engaging Youth Through Music

Following Leia Zhu's notable performance, Melco Resorts extended its cultural initiative through a "Meet the Musicians" session at Studio City resort in Cotai. Hosted by the company, this interactive session was designed to cultivate local talent by providing aspiring musicians and community participants with the opportunity to engage directly with Leia Zhu and Lio Kuokman, the music director and principal conductor of the Macao Orchestra.

Approximately 120 attendees, including music students, community representatives, and participants from Melco’s parent-child volunteer programme, were present. Invitations for this enriching event were distributed via various local organizations such as the School of Music of Macao Conservatory, Academia de Música São Pio X, Sheng Kung Hui Astor Shore, and the Macau Autism Association.

Developing Macau as a Cultural Hub

During the engagement session, Leia Zhu shared her vast international experiences and insights into the discipline required to establish a career in professional music. Her journey is impressive; she has captivated audiences in over 20 countries since starting her musical path at the tender age of four and won the Young Talent of the Year honor at Germany’s Opus Klassik Awards in 2025.

Clarence Chung Yuk Man, a board director at Melco Resorts, emphasized the company's dedication to fostering the arts in Macau. He remarked on the value of their collaboration with the Macao Orchestra, highlighting their goal to inspire the next generation of musicians and solidify Macau's standing as a global center for arts and culture.
