In the bustling city of Macau, the VIP live-table baccarat segment has seen a remarkable increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR), reaching nearly MOP19.56 billion (US$2.43 billion) in the first quarter of 2026. This impressive figure marks a substantial 35.4% growth compared to the same period in the previous year.
However, when compared sequentially, there was a slight decline of 3.6% from the fourth quarter of 2025. VIP baccarat has now claimed 29.7% of the total GGR from games of fortune in the first three months of the year, a notable rise from the 25.1% recorded during the same timeframe in 2025. Though, it reflects a small decrease from the fourth quarter of last year when it accounted for 30.7% of the total GGR.
This information comes from the latest data released by Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, which highlights the significant role VIP baccarat plays in the flourishing gaming industry.
The overall GGR for the first quarter of the year soared to MOP65.87 billion, an increase of 14.3% over the equivalent period in 2025. This upward trend is echoed across various sectors within the Macau gaming market. Particularly noteworthy is the GGR from slot machines, which reached MOP3.98 billion in the first quarter. The mass-market's performance was largely driven by mass-market baccarat, which recorded revenue of nearly MOP36.56 billion in the first quarter. This revenue accounted for 55.5% of Macau's total GGR for the period, an increase of 6.5% in comparison to the first quarter of 2025.
