Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, a major casino operator, is aligning with the prevailing trend in Macau to simplify side bet offerings on baccarat, a popular game among casinos. This decision is evident in their mass-floor and high-limit baccarat setups at their flagship venue, Galaxy Macau, located in Cotai. Observations recorded on Monday, replicated at StarWorld Hotel's first and third-floor gaming areas in downtown Macau on Tuesday, indicate this shift.
The tables at both Galaxy Macau and StarWorld now present players with a selection of side bets, notably ‘Small 6/Big 6’, ‘Small 7/Big 7’, and ‘Super Lucky 7’. Notably absent from these offerings are the previously standard ‘Lucky 6’ and ‘Lucky 7’ side bets, which were more widespread in the past year. This concentration on a streamlined collection of side bets is also apparent in the high-limit baccarat zones, Pavilion North and Pavilion South, at Galaxy Macau.
Similarly, significant market participants such as Wynn Macau Ltd, MGM China Holdings Ltd, and Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd have been noted by Citigroup, through their regular survey of premium mass baccarat betting, as having reduced the range of side bets available.
SJM Holdings Ltd, another prominent player with its properties at Grand Lisboa and the Grand Lisboa Palace, has also adhered to this simplified format. In contrast, Sands China Ltd has persisted with offering an extensive array of side bets. Their tables, supported by Angel Group’s technology, include Lucky 6, Lucky 7, and other side bets enhanced in July with a progressive jackpot feature. Other operators are utilizing Walker Digital Table Systems LLC’s technology, reaffirming their commitment to modernization.
