In a bid to advocate for Macau’s economic diversification, Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, a major player in the casino industry, has reiterated its commitment to supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) alongside budding entrepreneurs in the region. The initiative marks a vital collaboration effort with local entities to foster a sustainable economic environment beyond the company’s traditional business domains.
This commitment was manifest through a strategic partnership with the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (MYEIC), marking a significant step toward nurturing homegrown businesses and innovation.
In collaboration with MYEIC, Galaxy Entertainment successfully organized a two-day event, the 'Made in Macau' market, specifically tailored for showcasing local talent. Set within the prominent Galaxy Macau’s back-of-house vicinity, this market served as a critical platform for 10 local SMEs and start-ups to directly present their brands and commodities to Galaxy Entertainment’s substantial employee base. The event enjoyed the support of Macau’s Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute, which was a vital endorsement that helped highlight the local business offerings.
According to Galaxy Entertainment, the market not only brought "direct additional revenue to the exhibitors" but also underscored the viability and appeal of locally crafted goods. The occasion saw enthusiastic participation, evidencing the robust market interest within their own staff."It not only brought direct additional revenue to the exhibitors, but also further demonstrated the market appeal of locally made products," the firm stated. These direct quotes encapsulate the event's success and its impact on local businesses.
Galaxy Entertainment’s senior vice president of procurement and warehousing, Peter Chow, emphasized the broader objectives of engaging young entrepreneurs during his keynote at the event. He noted, "to encourage young entrepreneurs to unleash their creativity and strengthen their professional skills during the planning and execution process," further explicating the initiative's dual focus on both business growth and skill development.
Andy Ng, director of MYEIC, shared insights on the ongoing collaboration with Galaxy Entertainment, highlighting the effort as a tangible endorsement of the casino group’s "Large Businesses Leading Small Businesses" ethos, and its substantial role in amplifying the presence of locally produced items. The market event also included a competitive aspect, culminating in a contract award for the company that best demonstrated innovation and execution prowess.
Axon Space Interior Design Engineering Co Ltd emerged as a standout and was consequently awarded a contract valued at MOP200,000 (US$24,942). This recognition not only accentuates local talent but also exemplifies how strategic industry partnerships can open new pathways for business expansion.
